Send Email To Members
Use this page to send emails, possibly containing eMail ads, to members.
At the very top of the page you will see a link to 'Delete Old emails', a list of any previous mails you have created or sent out to members, and a text box containing a list of the ads you have created in the eMailAd Manager.
Send this email to members # : Enter the numeric ID for the members you want to receive this ad. e.g. Send mail to # 1 through # 4000.
Send as plain text | HTML Email: Select the format you are sending the mail in. If you select HTML, you will have to code the email in HTML, which requires basic HTML knowledge.
Check boxes: [High Priority] [Only send to internal inboxes]Select these options if you wish.
Subject of Email: Place your email ad Subject here. e.g. YourSite.com paid email.
Email: This is where you type your email. Include any surrounding text (if any), and where you want an ad to appear, copy a code such as 200402120933051855
to the clipboard from the text box above. Then paste that code into the message
Optional features:
Personalize your message: If you would like to place the members first name, last name, username, password or other information in the email to make it more personalized, simply paste any of the following where you would like this information displayed to the member. Either in the body of the email or the subject. E.g. Hello ,<FIRSTNAME>
Any of the following codes can be used in this manner:
<OWED>, <CASH_BALANCE>, <POINT_BALANCE>
<FIRSTNAME>, <LASTNAME>, <EMAIL>
<USERNAME>, <ENCRYPTEDPW>, <SIGNUPDATE>
<SIGNUPIPPROXY>
The email will go MUCH faster if you don't use these additions, as the mail server can send it as a bulk email. However, an important use is of these fields is when you are faced with a member reporting your mails as spam, to an email provider such as AOL, who will not provide your host with the identity of the complainer. If you include identifying information in the mail, you can identify the complainer and delete their account.
Targeting: Select any boxes you wish to target the email to, from the Membership Types, Interest Keywords, Countries and States.e.g. For an email to only members in the United Kingdom who have the Search interest selected, tick/check the Search and United Kingdom boxes.
Click the "Save Email" button. Your newly
composed email will now appear in the table, at the top of the Send Mail Manager.
You will then see the options to "Send", "Delete" or "Copy"
the email. Select your choice and you are done. When you have pressed the Send button you can create another ad, or leave the manager. There is no need to wait for the mail to process, it will be sent in the background.
This is an example of what you will see inside the Send Mail Manager after you send out an email
| Subject | First | Last | Current | Date | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example: |
1 | 10000 | 10000 | 07/21/2003 08:32 |
Subject: This is the mail subject
First: This is the first number of the members to be sent to.
Last: This field is the last number of the member to send to.
First and Last complement one another: e.g.: you have 5,000 members but want to send a mail to only 2,000 members. The starting point you set when creating the email will appear in the field "First" and the ending point you set when creating the email will appear in the "Last" field.
Current: This is the last email sent out so far. This number will increase as your total number of emails requested to be sent are being sent. When the number
in this field matches the number in the "Current" field, then your email has been sent and the job is complete. This is the number of emails you requested to be sent.
Date: This is the date you sent it.
Delete/Copy Buttons: This is where you can either delete the email or copy it to use again, with a few edits if required.
